My Philosophy

I believe that students learn best with a combination of instruction in concepts and drill.

Mathematics, Chemistry, and Logic all build on previous concepts to obtain later concepts. For instance, without arithmetic, algebra cannot be mastered. As a result, I like to understand what has come before in my students' courses of study, and see if there are any holes that need to be plugged or weaknesses that need to be strengthened before going on to the main topic. I also believe that working multiple problems in a given topic is important, both with and without an instructor's supervision. So, expect to see a stress on the concepts underlying a new topic of study followed by drill in-session and out-of-session homework to be checked at the next session or independently.

My standard rate:

$40.00/hour
